Ex-Illini Recruits Look Good in Exhibition Opener
Brandon Rush had 17 points, 10 rebounds in KU's exhibition opener last night. He was 6-9 from the field, 5-6 from the line and had 4 steals. Julian Wright was a stat sheet stuffer, scoring 8, picking up 8 boards and dealing out 4 assists, a block and 2 steals. But neither one of them would have started at Illinois this year (LOL)...
On a side note, I've got it from good sources that Will Walker will end up signing with DePaul, no reality to the rumors that he's looking elsewhere.

If my aunt had balls, he/she would be my uncle.
Rush and Wright are talents, no doubt about it. They really know how to "get" them.

We will miss not having a kid like Rush...he would have been an impact player. Disagree with you on Wright...and always have...nice player but not much different than Randle. Watched him too many times at HF where he did very little on the offensive end....no reason to think that will change immediately in college.
As I've said all along - Rush would instantly be the most talented player on any team he signed with
Rush would have been our starting SG. Don't think anyone ever said differently. At least I didn't. He's very talented.
Wright is a weaker (right now) version of Randle. I still don't think he would start, unless he played the '4', but then he would get pushed around. Randle has been a 'stat sheet stuffer' in both exhibitions as well.
Randle is also a much better defender at this point.

Wright got the vast majority of his stats late in the second half when KU was up 25 and he was finishing up the game with scrubs and walkons.
At half he had 0 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds, and 2 turnovers.
He finished with 8 points, 4 assists, 8 rebounds.
6 of the points, 4 of the rebounds, and 2 of the assists came in the last 6 minutes of the game.
Julian is a great talent, but he ain't ready yet.

Brad -
I don't think you said it, but a lot of people were questioning whether or not Rush was worth the effort while we were after him.

I don't remember people saying rush wouldn't have started at Illinois. Are you still an Illini fan, IHN?
It's amazing that IHN takes his head out of Bill Self's lap long enough to post or do anything else!
And how about commetns from phog readers during the game aout Wright. Somethinglike:
What is Julian DOING?
and
Jwright misses jump shot is showing up too often on the game tracker.

I'm assuming the point of this post is to highlight Weber's misses?
I'm guessing that's why you didn't talk about Julian' shooting percentage?
